Power Yoga

Power Yoga is a general term used in the West to describe a vigorous, fitness-based approach to “Vinyassa” style yoga. Power Yoga is closely modeled on the “Ashtanga” style of practice and has an emphasis on strength and flexibility with a cardiovascular mechanism, which ultimately results in an intense “Body Sculpture” exercise. It perfectly combines calorie loss as well as muscle tone. Power Yoga is a dynamic flow type yoga that keeps students moving constantly and is usually done with music.

How I Teach Power Yoga

I like to teach Power Yoga with a spiritual feel and always use music to enhance and encourage the experience. During my class I concentrate heavily on the strength and quality of the mind because in my opinion the best physical results only come once you have a strong mind, which in turn will apply discipline and patience to your practice. When practicing yoga it is important to balance courage with compassion when working with your body whilst making sure you listen to your body as you are the only person in there. Yoga is a magical experience that will come to any individual who dedicates some time to the practice. Some of my students who have never done yoga before have felt completely competent after just a few weeks and have seen a huge difference in their body shape/size/weight, skin condition and fitness levels.

About Me

My yoga journey started in 1998 when I needed to combine a way of keeping fit and de-stressing whilst working in the City. I did some research and decided that “Ashtanga” would be the most appropriate type of yoga for my needs. I fell in love with the physical side of it immediately, however the spiritual side took a while to sweep over me. Once it did however, I soon realised that yoga has a huge magical presence that I worship daily and could now never live without. For years my practice consisted of a “3 times” weekly schedule, which is ample for keeping your body fit and slim and your mind at peace. It was only when I left the City in 2008 that I was able to practice daily. This changed my yoga journey completely and also my life. I soon realized that yoga had to be a part of me forever which lead me to completing the highly respected and globally recognised Yoga Alliance teacher training program. I have since been teaching yoga privately all over London to a diverse selection of clients all looking for different things.
